# Connect taxcode.au to ChatGPT

> Create a ChatGPT Developer mode app for the taxcode.au remote MCP server.

MCP server URL:

```text
https://mcp.taxcode.au/
```

## Before You Start

- Use ChatGPT on the web with an account that has Developer mode available.
- Workspace admins may need to allow custom apps or Developer mode.
- taxcode.au uses remote Streamable HTTP MCP with OAuth.

## Create the App

1. Open `Settings > Apps > Advanced settings`.
2. Enable `Developer mode`.
3. Return to `Apps` and choose `Create app`.
4. Enter `https://mcp.taxcode.au/` as the remote MCP server URL.
5. Choose OAuth authentication when prompted.
6. Scan tools, authorize the connection, and create the app.

## Use It in a Conversation

1. Open a new chat.
2. Choose `Developer Mode` from the composer tools.
3. Select the taxcode.au app for the conversation.
4. Ask explicitly for taxcode.au when you need source-grounded Australian tax
   research.

Example:

```text
Use taxcode.au only. Find source-backed guidance on Division 7A loan repayment
timing and list the compliance risks I should review.
```

## Review Tool Output

- Expand tool calls when needed to inspect returned source metadata.
- Refresh the app from ChatGPT app settings if the MCP server adds or changes
  tools.
- Ask for jurisdiction, date, source-gap, and anti-avoidance checks before
  relying on a strategy answer.
- Treat the result as research support, not legal or tax advice.
